After Ganga, Yamuna and Saryu rivers set to become pollution free

  After the Ganga in Kanpur and Varanasi, the Saryu in Ayodhya, and Yamuna in Vrindavan are all set to become pollution-free. After the Ganga in Kanpur and Varanasi, the Saryu in  Ayodhya , and Yamuna in Vrindavan are all set to become pollution-free as the drains falling into these rivers have been tapped. The water of the drains connecting to the sewage treatment plants (STP) is being treated and purified. The water of as many as 37 drains in prominent cities have been prevented from falling into rivers. New STPs have been set up on the banks of rivers. In the last one year, total 72 drains have been tapped. According to officials, water quality of major rivers, including Ganga, has improved significantly due to the work being carried out under the ambitious Namami Gange programme.   Third wave peak expected around September-October: IIT Kanpur study New Delhi [India], June 21 (ANI): An IIT Kanpur study done by Prof. Rajesh Ranjan and Mahendra Verma, along with their team, on Monday said third wave peak of COVID could be around September – October this year. “There is a significant anxiety among policy makers and public about the third wave. For the same, using SIR model, we have constructed the following three scenarios of a possible third wave using the epidemic parameters of the second wave. We assume that India is fully unlocked on 15 July. Scenario 1 (Back-to-Normal):  Third wave peak  in October but a lower peak height than the second wave. Scenario 2 (Normal with virus mutations): The peak could be higher than the second one and may appear early (September). One killed, two injured in blast at oxygen plant in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur

  One person was killed and two others injured after an oxygen cylinder exploded during refilling at Panki oxygen plant in Dada Nagar industrial area here on Friday morning One person was killed and two others injured after an oxygen cylinder exploded during refilling at Panki oxygen plant in Dada Nagar industrial area here on Friday morning.According to the police, the accident took place during oxygen cylinder refilling. The deceased was identified as Imrad Ali, an oxygen plant worker, the police said. One injured is undergoing treatment at the Lala Lajpat Rai hospital while another person was discharged after administering the first aid. Further details are awaited.
